Talk:Processes for KohaCons
Draft: Wordwide holidays consideration
To make the event the most accessible worldwide the dates should not conflict with holidays in the widest range of countries and cultures possible.
At a minimum try to have an half a week gap with the following:
- Buddha's Birthday and Bodhi Day.
- The first 3 days of the Chinese New Year
- From the 25th of December (Christmas) to 1 January (Gregorian New Year)
- Diwali, Holi, Krishna Janmashtami, Maha Shivaratri and Rama Navami
- Eid al-Adha and the last 10 days of Ramadan The last day being Eid al-Fitr. (leave one week after if possible)
- Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Pesach/Passover
(alphabetical order of the religions/cultures)
Feel free to propose changes if you find more accurate info.
Reads well for me. Thx for the draft! --Kfischer 15:53, 1 November 2021 (EDT)
Looks good to me too. --oleonard 11:01, 2 November 2021 (EDT)
Great, go for it. MRenvoize 06:18, 5 November 2021 (EDT)
I've gone ahead and added the text to the processes page. I am also adding a link to our code of conduct at the bottom of the page that only had an empty heading. Also added the monthly reports to mailing list as agreed on during Development IRC meeting 27 October 2021 --Kfischer 05:21, 14 November 2021 (EST)
Question: Should we require open accounts?
The kohacon hosted in Dublin published their accounts at the end of the event.. this was for two reasons.. one to be as open as possible and reduce the chance of embezzlement etc as much as possible and two so that future even organisers could have an idea of how much it costs to host such an event. I think it could be a good thing to request as an open community that we have open books for such events.
