Software.coop

software.coop was incorporated in 2002, building on years of experience of web development and sysadmin work for public-sector organisations and private companies since 1994.

The company's mission is to provide computer-related services and benefit its workers and the wider community, rather to generate profit for its shareholders, which makes it a uniquely good fit for free and open source software users. Its members come from a range of backgrounds, which helps the co-op to take a broad view of requests.

Within just a few months of starting work, the co-op had a contract from a library to support and develop Koha and announced itself to the community in May 2003. Today, it provides a full range of Koha services including hosting, training, development and support, which are listed on its website in more detail than typical.
