Selective dissemination of information

This is how it will work:
1. Staff setup SDI topics or profiles
2. Patrons subscribe to one or more SDI profiles
3. Emails with brief information on new material sent to subscribed patrons

SDI profile

Library staff will be able to setup SDI profiles. Each profile will include a search expression and limits similar to what is available on the advanced search page

Subscribing to Topics

Patrons will to subscribe to one or more SDI profiles. Library staff will also be able to subscribe to SDI profiles on patrons' behalf.

Generating/Sending Emails

A batch process will generate content for each profile - essentially a list of new items matching the search expression for that profile - and dispatch the content to subscribed patrons via email. A system preference will control the frequency (daily, weekly, monthly) of generation and dispatch of emails.
